We have recently completed our renovation works with Charlotte’s Carpentry and we highly recommend our ID - Yang Horng (YH). We spoke to a few IDs from different firms before deciding on Charlotte’s Carpentry. YH’s design ideas stood out and the quotation for the scope of work was the most reasonable compared to the other IDs that we have consulted. In fact, YH was the only ID who recommended to hack the wall between our yard and kitchen to increase the space of our kitchen (and managed to do that within our budget). During the renovation process, YH has been extremely patient in answering all our questions and even brought us to several shops to hunt for toilet accessories, aircon, tiles and various kitchen appliances. The vendors have given us a very good deal because of YH. YH has also been very responsive when we seek his opinion when sourcing and picking out furniture. In addition, he was willing to provide minor touch ups and accede to our last min changes without charging us an extra fee. The workmanship of the carpentry was great, however there were some minor hiccups in terms of tiling. But nonetheless, YH tried his best to rectify these tiling issues. In the aspect of timeline, YH had planned for a 5-week renovation timeline, however the project was delivered in 6 weeks. This is due to post-circuit breaker constraints and 6 weeks was in fact above our expectations. Most importantly, he was proactive in updating us about the progress of the renovation and very responsible in all aspects. It has been almost a month since renovation works were completed. However, even when we seek any styling advice from YH now, he will provide us his feedback almost immediately. Overall, we are happy with the wonderful work done by YH and will highly recommend anyone to reach out to YH if they are intending to engage a ID for their home renovation.

Smooth sailing reno process

We decided on having Javerson as our ID after speaking to 5 other IDs due to his patience, willingness to listen and honesty to set expectations right. We collected our keys the day before circuit breaker and Javerson made the effort to come down on the same day to finalise details. Although we couldnt start work due to CB, he kept us updated on the situation and immediately applied for reno permit as soon as the company could. The renovation process went on smoothly despite labour crunch issue due to COVID. We observed that our reno was completed earlier than our neighbours who started before us! :P Throughout the process, he was very accomodating to our requests and acted upon all our feedback quickly with his team of contractors. He was very transparent with the cost for add-ons and would also confirm all decisions with us before proceeding. Workmanship is superb with no major defects during handover. We actually received several praises on our carpentry from visitors and other professional contractors (whom we engaged separately) who dropped by our unit! After reading many reno nightmare stories, we are very thankful that our reno process was so smooth-sailing, thanks to Javerson and his team! :)

I met IDs from 4 different firms through Qanvast and did not regret choosing Charlotte's Carpentry. Based on the design brief provided via Qanvast, the assigned ID Raymond Teng provided hand-drawn layout plans during the first meeting so no time was wasted. Also, his design met all my requirements, despite the space constraints of my condo. He also suggested elements which I did not think of but now that I have lived in the space for a few weeks, I am glad to have them. By chance I met Raymond while walking into the Charlotte's Carpentry office. We had a great rapport from the start, and he was easy going, patient, very prompt in answering calls and messages, honest to the core, and understands the perspective of the client. When the CB was lifted, I had to move in quickly into my flat as my rental unit has to been given back to the landlord. Raymond made great efforts for my unit to be done to meet the deadline, despite having manpower shortages and strict BCA regulations. Our ID, Sharon was able to design the theme that we wanted & able to meet to our budget. We are very impressed with Sharon’s vast experience & professionalism in our house designs. She was able to optimize our space for storage & also provide ideas on our furniture, wallpaper & curtain selection to match to our theme. I have only good things to say about this company and our ID in-charge, Raymond Teng. Charlotte's Carpentry gave me the impression that it is a well established and well run company with excellent customer service. For such a company, I was cautious they may be expensive, but their prices are very fair. Super glad I chose to use them, especially since we ran into Covid and the circuit breaker during the reno period. They seem to enjoy a good working relationship with their sub-contractors too, who were all very helpful. Despite all the challenges, we made it! I was looking for an ID firm with a great track record for quality and service, and I'm so glad I found Ginny from Charlotte's Carpentry! I want to thank her for the wonderful job she did for us on this project.

Ginny is very professional, responsive, experienced and trustworthy. Although I chose to renovate only one room in my home, she was very dedicated and meticulous. A Job Well Done!

I started my research on IDs about 6 months before HDB was scheduled to handover the keys to my 4-room BTO. I chanced upon Qanvast’s well-designed website and zeroed in on interior designs that are modern and simple. Knowing that carpentry works usually take up a major portion of the renovation budget I focused on ID firms that have their own carpentry workshop which means they have better control over quality, scheduling and costs. I singled out Charlotte’s Carpentry for their contemporary design, workshop at Johor and positive reviews. Wendy, one of the co-owner, assigned Ginny as our ID. Ginny has a strict and no-nonsense approach to her work. She gave useful design advice and discouraged what she thinks is unnecessary and unsuitable. Frankly, my tight budget and multitude of preset requirements didn’t leave Ginny much room to weave her creative magic. However, her project management skills & ability to stick strictly to the milestones and timeline was very impressive. She even managed to squeezed in a few variations without wavering from the completion date. I am based overseas and monitoring the progress of the works with constant photo updates from Ginny is really reassuring. Lastly, I would like to compliment her crews involved in the project - carpentry, electrical, plumbing, tiling, lighting, air-conditioning, painting, aluminum, etc for their high quality works. It's our 1st time doing a major renovation & we have heard many horrid stories dealing with ID or contractors. We get to know Eve through our friend's recommendation.
Of course, we did our due diligence of meeting up other IDs for price comparisons too. Honestly, they weren't the cheapest quote. However, we still preferred and felt more at ease dealing with Eve.

During our 1st meeting, she was precise & meticulous in drawing out the layout using our floor plan. She listened to our views and tried to incorporate in her design plan. Within a few days, she came up with a proposal plan & very detailed quotation. There were various changes throughout the 3D drawing process but she had never once failed us! She took in our comments seriously and tried to propose various designs. She was also frank with us if our designs were too over the top OR not feasible.

The completion dateline was accurate despite some hiccups in our unit due to leakage issue. Her contractor had identified the leakage and Eve was very fast to react on it. We have nothing but only praises for her. All our worries were unfounded. She is such a gem in this industry! Every meeting with her was very pleasant and despite our indecisiveness, she had never ever show signs of impatience. Whatever we had requested she will remember.
We like her professionalism & confidence. She is a women with few words but she uses her actions to prove and show it to us. Also, the contractors that she engages are friendly and did a nice job for our unit.

Excellent Experience, Responsive Service.

We engaged Charlotte's Carpentry after going through many rounds of meeting different designers. We decided on Charlotter's Carpentry right after our very first meeting as we were just blown away by the sincerity and genuine attention by our designer, Raymond. He really listened to what we wanted and tried his best to come up with plans and ideas according to what we wanted. Unlike many other designers, he never once told us that some thing was impossible until he had gone to check with multiple sources. I'm sure we gave him a lot of hardship and grief as we requested for very specific treatment for our flooring and to construct a special panel for our kitchen. Many other designers had told us it would not be possible at the first meet up but Raymond kept an open mind and he even went to watch youtube videos and look for contractors who could give us what we envisioned for our new home.

The experience once we signed did not change, which we were incredibly thankful for having heard horror stories that once the contract was signed, the designers would just not care about you anymore. If anything, Raymond got even more attentive and helped us a lot along the way. As clueless first time home reno people, we relied a lot on Raymond's expertise to help us. He even helped us find ways to consolidate our contract so we could save some money here and there. Whenever an issue cropped up, Raymond would always present it professionally and be very solution-oriented. He was always honest and enthusiastic and we trusted him so much that throughout the entire renovation process, we actually only went down twice to see how things were going. For the most part, we just trusted that Raymond would be able to handle everything and he did.

The part we love most about Raymond is that he is incredibly responsive. No ID process is ever perfect and we did find things in the house that had to be redone. Whatever it was, we just had to text Raymond and he would reply immediately. I would have to specify in my texts to him NOT to reply as it was really late at night (does this guy ever sleep?!) but he would still do so any way because he always seems to put his client first. At every step, Raymond has gone out of his way to give us what we want and done so by balancing our aesthetic wants and practical considerations. We have a beautiful house now that is exactly as we wanted and the carpentry especially is very well done.

I've waited for more than a year to write this review as I feel that the process of renovation and whether an ID is good is also in the after care service. We ran into some minor issues such as our faucet coming loose (we probably can fix this on our own but we are clueless home owners :( ) after moving in and even after a year, Raymond is still as responsive and customer-oriented as ever.

Was so relieved to find an ID who was willing to take on a kitchen Reno only job. The deal clincher was Raymond Loo who talked us through what we wanted and gave us confidence to proceed with the Reno while living in. We shared with Sharon the color/design which we were inclined to and immediately on the spot, she handsketch a 3D view of the living room and master bedroom for us. We were impressed and short listed her as our ID but had requested to view the workmanship of any one of her completed job. Best experience I've had. (and this is my 3rd house move and renovations).

From the very first consultation, Rames came across as confident, experienced and most importantly honest. His customer-centricity was genuine and consistent throughout the entire journey. He is always open to listen to all your concerns and feedback and will help you think of ways to find the best solutions to suit your needs. And if something cannot be done due to time, costs or factors beyond his control, he will patiently explain it to you and offer alternative ideas so that it doesn’t jeopardise the project.

Short answer is Yes! Long ans: We spoke to a few IDs that we shortlisted on Qanvast and went ahead with Javerson for his sincerity (feels like a friend helping you get your house done up within your budget and suiting your tastes), patience, and a reasonable, competitive all-in project cost. We had done our homework and got to bounce ideas off Jav through the planning process. A truly professional ID.

We got to know Charlotte's Carpentry thru our friend recommendation. He mentioned that his new house was done beautifully within the given deadline and updates were done promptly. So we decide to give it a try, as we are mentally exhausted after scouting around for a professional ID firm.

We got to know Ginny who was very stern in looking, and we are worried that communication will be hard. During the first meeting, we were impressed by her knowledge in her work as she knows what we actually wanted and most importantly, she hear us. We appreciate her patience in listening to our thoughts and she was able to come out with professional suggestions promptly. I have to admit that I was quite "lazy" throughout the whole renovation, as I seldom went up to check the progress of the renovation. Ginny was constantly ensuring everything was in her given schedule, and she always manage to resolve any unforeseen situation before she feedback to us. We are very pleased about this, as this was what we expect from an ID.

Our dream house renovation went so smoothly that I could not believe it. Of course, all credits to Ginny and her team working thru the six weeks of hard work. I got the contact for Ginny, from a colleague who is having his home renovated by Charlotte's Carpentry. Normally, couples will meet up to a minimum of 3 ID before deciding on which one to engage. We had such a pleasant experience with James in the renovation of our place. His eye for details was astounding. He put in a lot of thought in the aesthetics and the practicality of the designs. Eve is very patient, reliable, practical and thoughtful throughout the whole reno process. We were drawn to Charlotte’s Carpentry while browsing through Qanvast/Facebook. We found that the cost were reasonable and decided to get a quote. We then met our ID, Sharon. Wonderful Designer and Excellent Job Done.

We approached Charlotte's Carpentry after viewing their finished projects on FB. Sharon Tay was the designer who was assigned to us. After the first appointment, we warmed up to Sharon's approachable nature. She was not pushy and gave us time to think over the quotation.

Throughout the planning and renovation process, Sharon was patient even after we changed our designs a few times. She gave us practical ideas and at the same time welcomed our suggestions. She was very contactable and always amicable in her responses. She even gave us updates via whatsapp when we were away during the renovation. As we were in a hurry to move in, she managed to work with the contractors to hasten the renovation process. We were also pleased with the work done by the electrician that was recommended to us. Charlotte's Carpentry was one of the IDs recommended by Qanvast and we were attracted to the simple and clean designs posted on Facebook. While the company is relatively small, we took a leap of faith and engaged James to handle our renovations and he did not disappoint.
